He served in the United States Marine Corps from 2009-2013 and was stationed in Camp Pendleton, California. He was a combat veteran and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 and 2012.
He was honorably discharged from the Marines in 2013 and returned home to Baton Rouge. Jai began attending college at Southern University and A&M College that fall. In December 2014, he joined the National Guard and continued his studies. Wiggins graduated from Southern University in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.
In August 2017, Wiggins returned to Afghanistan as a private security contractor. On October 4, 2017, while on duty, he was killed in an insider attack by a Taliban sympathizer. He was 27 years old.
